People who know Gail Sagel, would say that she is a classic left brain, right brain individual. She is equally strong in her logical, methodical, and analytic thinking; as she is with her creativity, intuitiveness and sense of innovation. Graduating from the University of Maryland School of Business, double majoring in economics and marketing, Gail chose to initially follow a financial path, beginning her career on Wall Street in the derivatives markets.
Following a successful career in financial services, Gail brought her intuitive business knowledge from Wall Street to Main Street. Yet, Gail never lost sight of her true passion to be an entrepreneur. Gail’s first entree into the world of beauty was to launch Faces Beautiful® in Westport, CT, an innovative beauty concept store & salon that combined beauty services and upscale cosmetics. The business was an incubator for indie brands in an era before the Sephora’s, Blue Mercury, Ulta and Dry Bars were on the scene. Faces Beautiful soon had a cult following. This model has won the Best of Westport for over 10 years consecutively, has been awarded the 5-star rating for excellence in customer service and Gail has been awarded the “Female CEO Excellence”.
Gail’s understanding of economic cycles enabled her to timely and strategically transform the business model from a 3rd party multi-brand retailer to a DTC vertically-integrated makeup and skincare brand, post the 2009 financial crisis. Her self-funded transition into both bricks and clicks was prescient in that it was ahead of the curve, created market differentiation and captured higher margins. Monetizing cross-channel opportunities, Gail authored two makeup books that garnered national attention and became top sellers on Amazon though her utilizing social media platforms to capture audience share for her brand.
Recognizing that increasing profitability for a service-oriented business can be maximized by adding branded products, Gail ventured into product development, manufacturing cosmetics, and launching patented products. Her brand, Faces Beautiful® formulates products that make life easier for women, products that solve problems and are vegan. That was the inspiration behind her patented makeup system and her novel brush-attached makeup, the recipient of the Bella Beauty award.
Gail advises clients in business development, creating brand identity, marketing, e-commerce, social media implementation, strategic multi-level campaigns, team coaching, product development, manufacturing, sourcing support, quality control, packaging design, inancial analysis, budgeting, public relations and Amazon vendor relations.
